November and December

This entry isn't nicely starting in november and ending at the end of december. I'm a little jumping forward and backward, so don't get confused. :)

I am pretty sure I stopped somewhen in November. So I'm just gonna continue there. On november 7th my spanish class went to a Foreign Language Day at Saginaw Valley State University. Different schools competed against each other in  different categories. For example dancing, singing, International Awareness, etc.. We didn't place with dancing, but my group got third place in the International Awareness competition. it was a fun day. 

Only one day later my swim team went to our final meet. Many different schools participated. We ended up in third place what is really good. I am really proud. I placed 8 in diving. One of our swimmers even made it to state finals. :)

The banquet was about 2 weeks later. I received my first varsity letter. :)

Meanwhile I went to basketball tryouts.. As a senior I was supposed to go to Varsity tryouts. It was embarrassing!!! They were all really good. But I also heard, that they are gonna have a basketball cheerleading team this winter. I went to the information night.  And this time I passed the tryouts successfully. My gymnastic background helped me a lot! I made it in the VARSITY cheer team. I also got my uniform and next week the games are starting. I am really excited. We started practice in december. At the end of november was of course thanksgiving. I can only say FOOD, FOOD, FOOD,... The whole family came together and we had a good time. 

December was also a time when everybody starts preparing for christmas. I went to the world largest christmas store in Frankenmuth (near where I live). I also had quite a few christmas parties. On december 13th I had a band christmas party.

Two days later I had a YFU christmas party. I have to say we are doing quite a lot together in my region. I heard of students in other states who don't even know the name of their area rep. so it's really cool to hang out together and share your experiences.

At the end of november the first trimester ended. Luckily I survived the exams. Now I have some other subjects.

1st hour: Psychology

2nd hour: Photography Appl.

3rd hour: Biology

4th hour: Band

5th hour: English Lit. 10

I think I haven't shown you my senior pictures either.

So on december 25th was finally christmas. It was different, as I was used to celebrate it on christmas eve and here you celebrate it on the next morning. It was a lot of fun unwrapping gifts in pyjamas. Here some pictures. By the way here you decorate the tree with ornaments. (really cute)

For new year I went to the church with some friends. We had a new years party and most of the youth group was there. It was quite funny. I am really missing the swiss new year: Firework, Champaign or Rimus,... ;) Here everyone is watching the balldrop at midnight.

Holidays are now almost over. :( Then it goes back to school. I also got an invitation for the midyear orientation. That means it's almost halftime..
